Forty-eight local fishermen and women actively participated, showcasing their commitment to learning life-saving techniques necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations at sea.
Director of the PMMA Training Center, ๐๐ป๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐๐ป๐ผ ๐๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ป, took the initiative to lead and demonstrate first-aid responses, techniques for survival, as well as the fundamentals of firefighting.
“Wala pang nangyayari dapat may ginawa ka nang pag-babago,” said Engr. Culaton as he encouraged participants to always be prepared for unforeseen real-life emergency scenarios.
Subsequently, Assistant Dean of the College of Marine Transportation, ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ป๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ, presided over on the topic of marine pollution as one of the greatest threats to ocean health and provided effective solutions that everyone can take part in.
Additionally, Director of International Relations, ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป ๐ข๐ฟ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ด led on the topic of collision regulations, emphasizing that the basic boating rules and protocols is imperative.
Capt Dimailig also encouraged the participants to always prioritize safety by providing tips on taking evasive actions as needed.

Local boat captain ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ถ๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ๐ฐ also proudly shared the experiences he had to endure at sea during the seminar discussions.
Meanwhile, ๐ฎ/๐ข ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ป๐ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด, the Dean of the College of Marine Transportation, led an in-depth discussion on search and rescue methods, highlighting critical strategies and best practices essential for effective operations in maritime emergencies.
Lastly, ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ๐ณ ๐๐ป๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ and ๐๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ผ ๐ก๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ผ delivered the discussion on engine maintenance and basic engine repair, providing a brief understanding on how to troubleshoot engines when unforeseen circumstances arise.
In his concluding address, Assistant Superintendent for Academics, Training, Research, and Extension, ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ. ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ฑ ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ, ๐ ๐๐ป๐ด., highlighted the importance of extending assistance to the local fisherfolks since they handle one of the vital roles in our daily necessities.
Prof Barro also expressed his hopes that similar seminars will be expanded to a broader audience. He also assured that the Academy remains committed to providing support with the fisherfolk community of Zambales.
