Training-Workshop on Research Methods for Gender and Development Studies
The Department of Research, Development and Extension (DRDE), in coordination with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, headed by Ms. Evangeline E. De Guia, successfully organized and conducted a Training-Workshop on Research Methods for Gender and Development Studies held in Baguio City last November 8-10, 2023, with the resource speaker, Dr. Zenaida Q. Reyes, Professor VI of Phil. Normal University, Manila. Prof. Reyes specializes in the provision of training on Gender Sensitivity, National GAD Planning and Budgeting, Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework, Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines, GAD Framework and Agenda, Gender and Curriculum Development, and Gender-Fair Language. Her sectoral expertise includes GAD and Models of Integration in the Curriculum, Gender-Fair Education, Gender Mainstreaming in the Education Sector, and Feminist Research.
To date, the PMMA has conducted only a few GAD-related researches; thus, it recognizes the need to build awareness on equality, diversity, and inclusion and mainstream gender perspective in its researches. The activity also aimed to learn the research framework for gender and development studies, explored research methods for GAD research, and applied results of gender research for policy, program, and advocacy. The aforementioned training-workshop was attended by 37 PMMA personnel.
DRDE would like to thank the PMMA management for its continued support for the institution’s growing research culture, as well as the opportunity to explore research methods for GAD studies. The DRDE also extends its gratitude to the PMMA GraduateSchool Dean, Prof. Ma. Nissa C. Espiritu, MSc., for her assistance during the three-day training workshop, as well as those who have attended, actively participated and shared their outputs.
